Positive: A warm welcome on arrival from Knútur who proved to be a dedicated and knowledgeable host. Drangar itself is a kind of hybrid destination, part guest house and part hotel. Either way it’s sumptuously finished and very agreeable. It’s clearly an architectural masterworks where everything works very harmoniously. There are two shared spaces where you can cook/drink/relax should the accoutrements in the room not do the job.

Negative: The location is a little off the beaten track but that only adds to the pleasure afforded by the splendid isolation. The views from the Annexe aren't as good as the main building, but you get more in room facilities.

Summary: A spectacular and successful refurbishment of old farm buildings.
