Summary: I have stayed at the Ash Street Inn on many occasions when it was owned and managed privately. This visit was a bit of a shock with absentee management. Fortunately, the first evening a cleaning person was leaving when I tried to use my code to enter and it did not work. She tried to help but it still did not work.. She contacted something/one and I was able to enter. Then the code on my room did not work. Then the same thing happened the second night after I worried all day that I would not be able to enter again. And then neither code did not work again. Fortunately I had the phone number for the cleaning person and I called her and she came again. I realize i had emergency numbers available but this whole scenario was quite unsettling after the warm receptions I had always received before. I do realize times are changing but the experience was nothing like what I had enjoyed in the past. Also, there should be maps to show folks where the "Honey Pot" breakfast spot is. I grew up in Manchester and know the area well so it was not a problem for me. Interesting experience with modern day technology but not one I appreciated. Decor and amenities were quite wonderful.
